Wanted drugs smuggler has been arrested in San Pedro de Alcántara
Wanted drugs smuggler has been arrested in San Pedro de Alcántara on an international arrest warrant issued by the authorities in Italy in March last year. Named by EFE as G.D.M. from Angri in Italy, he is accused of being part of a gang which smuggled 30 kilos of cocaine into the country, together with another 30 kilos of cannabis resin.He was arrested last week after National Police identified an Italian guest at a San Pedro hotel as the man wanted by Italy. The suspect was transferred to Madrid following his arrest, where the National Court will handle the extradition procedure

Local man has been sentenced by the Málaga Provincial Court to 18 years in prison for killing another in a bar in San Pedro
Local man has been sentenced by the Málaga Provincial Court to 18 years in prison for killing another in a bar in San Pedro de Alcántara in September 2006.It apparently started when the two men collided by mistake in the bar, with the aggressor then going to his home to get a knife and returning to the bar to stab the other man who died the following day.The aggressor was also found guilty of attempting to kill the victim’s friend, stabbing him from the back. After the aggression the man went back home and then went to the Local Police with his mother. He had claimed he only wanted to frighten the other men with his knife. The court heard that the man was considered to be emotionally unstable and also ordered him to pay 250,000 € in compensation.

52 decoders were impounded and other items and documents seized.

The National police have arrested 28 people across the country today Friday, in relation to alleged crimes against intellectual property and telecommunications fraud.
Among those detained are the owners and administrators of hotels, local cable television networks and presidents of neighbour’s communities.
A statement from the police said the operation, named ‘Riós’, estimated that the amount defrauded was some eight million €.
Several distributors of modified decoders were also among those arrested. They had been advertising their wares on Internet portals.
The police operation was carried out in collaboration with the judicial police in Madrid, Alicante, Málaga, Soria and Logroño together with officers from Vigo, Elche, Coria del Rio and Astorga.
Among the local cable networks affected and accused of broadcasting copyright material were those in Nerja and San Pedro de Alcántara.
